Biography of Professor:

Quan Chen received his Ph.D. from the Graduate School of Engineering at Kyoto University, Japan, in 2011. Following a postdoctoral fellowship at Pennsylvania State University, he has served as a Professor at the Changchun Institute of Applied Chemistry, Chinese Academy of Sciences, since 2015.

His research primarily focuses on the molecular rheology of polymer liquids, with particular emphasis on associative polymers and polyolefins. He has developed reversible gelation models to predict the linear viscoelasticity of associative polymers and has tested validity of these models using ionomers and hydrogen-bonding-based polymers. More recently, his work has concentrated on the nonlinear rheological properties of associative polymers.

Dr. Chen has received several prestigious awards, including the 2021 Metzner Award from the Society of Rheology and the 2019 Research Award from the Society of Rheology, Japan. He has served on the editorial boards of Macromolecules, Journal of Rheology, Polymer, and the Chinese Journal of Polymer Science.
